So, I decided to re-do this idea, to make this:

Cute idea! Might want to use a bit less dithering in the shading and go for a smoother look with this particular hat.

I like the idea.
This may be what Cirras meant, but the ears of the Deadmau5 helmet aren't really rounded but, more so, flat, so I suggest shading around the edges of the ear - darker to lighter in the middle. Then shade the "head" around where the ears attach and leaving the part by the ears lighter. I do like what you have so far though, keep up the good work.
